Install Script Builder on Your Device

Script Builder is a web application that can be installed as an app on your computer or mobile device. There is no separate software download or installer required.

You can use Script Builder directly in your browser, or install it as an app using Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Brave.

Script Builder can be installed using Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Brave.

If the install button isn't shown, your browser already has Script Builder installed — or it doesn't support installing web apps. Follow the steps for your device below.

Opens in its own window

Script Builder launches as its own application window — no browser tabs, address bar, or clutter.

Creates a shortcut

A Script Builder icon with official Script Builder branding is added to your desktop, Start Menu, taskbar, Dock, or home screen.

Always up to date

Script Builder updates automatically whenever new versions are released. There is nothing to download or re-install.

Firefox users can still access Script Builder through the browser; however, Firefox does not currently support installing Progressive Web Apps (PWAs). For the best installation experience, use Chrome, Edge, or Brave.

iPad and iPhone: managing the Script Builder icon

iPadOS and iOS always add an installed web app to your Home Screen — this is standard Apple behavior, not a Script Builder setting. To tidy it up, touch and hold the Script Builder icon:

  • Choose Remove from Home Screen when it's offered — Script Builder stays installed and remains reachable from the App Library and Spotlight search.
  • Drag the icon into a folder, onto a later Home Screen page, or into the Dock if you'd rather keep it out of the way.
  • On some iPadOS versions the only option is Delete — that removes the installed shortcut, not your Script Builder account. Nothing in your workspaces, research, or history is lost, and you can reinstall from Safari in a few seconds.

After reinstalling you may be asked to sign in again, since iPadOS treats the installed app as its own private browser session.

Already installed Script Builder? Open it from your desktop, Start Menu, Dock, Home Screen, App Library, or Spotlight search — the Home Screen is not the only way in.

Step-by-step instructions

Choose your browser or device below for exact installation steps.

Is there a Windows (.exe) or Mac (.dmg) download?

A traditional downloadable Windows (.exe) or Mac (.dmg) installer is not currently needed, because the PWA provides the same convenient app experience across platforms — and it stays updated automatically. For the best installation experience, use Chrome, Edge, or Brave.

After you install

Sign in once and Script Builder stays signed in. Your workspaces, verified research, and workflows are the same everywhere — installed app or browser.
